For the first time in 25 years (!) Ostend is getting a new hotel, but the contractor behind it is even more striking. In recent decades, real estate group Degroote has built more homes on our coast than, say, Bart Versluys, but recently became torn apart. Because the three sons Degroote felt that their father-founder Xavier wanted to go too slow, he had to leave his own company. Today they are competitors and even outbid each other.
