The pen is mightier than the sword, so goes the credo of a writer. But Zachar Prilepin (47) is an exception to that. He may be the most influential Russian author of the decade, but his pen is not enough. Starting out as an opponent of Putin, he moved camp a few years ago. He then went to fight in the Donbas, where the unit he founded “killed more Ukrainians than all the rest” — as he claimed. On Saturday he survived an attack deep in Russia.
