Jens Stoltenberg (64) has been released from his job as NATO boss. Actually, he should have been replaced last year, but now his mandate is being extended again. He has therefore guided the Western alliance through turbulent waters: it was about to explode under Trump, but the war in Ukraine has made it more important than ever. Quite remarkable for a man who himself once argued against NATO — and was recorded in Russian archives as a KGB spy.
