Porpoise washes up alive in Blankenberge, but…

The fire brigade arrived on the scene to remove the carcass. This is collected by the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS). An autopsy is being conducted there to determine the cause of the animal’s death.

Sea Life Blankenberge has been responsible for the care of porpoises since June. “It was the first report we received of a living porpoise. Unfortunately, the animal died. It was probably already strongly weakened when it washed ashore. The porpoise had some wounds under the chin and also cuts on the flanks,” says Dice.
