Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will take part in a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Inter-Parliamentary Council, which will be held on January 24 in Brussels, despite the possibility of arrest following a hearing in a Kiev court on January 17. About it says on the website of the European Solidarity party, which is headed by Poroshenko.

“At the invitation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the fifth President of Ukraine, leader of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, plans to visit Brussels on January 24 to attend a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Inter-Parliamentary Council,” the statement said.

During the visit, Poroshenko is to meet with Ukraine’s allies to “consolidate efforts to internationally counter the Kremlin’s ongoing aggression.” He will also discuss with them measures “to restore the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.” Another topic of talks will be democratic reforms in Ukraine in preparation for membership in the EU and NATO.

The Pechersky District Court of Kiev will consider the petition of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine to arrest the ex-president on January 17, 2022 at 11:00 (12:00 Moscow time). The state prosecution will require his arrest with the possibility of bail in the amount of a billion hryvnia (about $37 million). On January 6, the court seized the property and assets of the ex-president.
