Popken Fashion Group takes over Happysize

Another brand from the insolvent Klingel Group has found a new owner.

K – Mail Order GmbH & Co. KG, the group’s main company, is selling the plus-size fashion brand Happysize to the Popken Fashion Group. The trademark rights as well as the customer addresses and inventory will be transferred to the group based in Rastede in Lower Saxony on January 1st, the shipping company announced on Tuesday.

The new owner is an internationally operating, family-run fashion company that specializes in plus-size fashion, according to the statement. The Popken Fashion Group’s portfolio includes the brands Ulla Popken, Laurasøn, Studio Untold and JP1880, which the company sells through online shops and in its own branches in more than 30 countries.

After the group was unable to find an investor for the entire company, the cessation of business operations was announced at the end of August. Shortly afterwards, the men’s fashion brand Babista, which belonged to the group, was taken over by the Vanderstorm Ventures group. At that time it was said from Pforzheim that there were some interested parties who wanted to continue to operate individual bell brands under their own management from the beginning of 2024. With the sale of Happysize, the second bell brand has now found a new owner.
