A National Gendarmerie (French police) helicopter crashed in central France on Sunday afternoon. This left one person dead and two others injured. All three are gendarmes. This was reported by the AFP news agency based on sources surrounding the investigation into the accident.
The injured include the female pilot and the mechanic. According to the sources, the circumstances of the crash had not yet been clarified on Sunday evening.
The helicopter crashed on the territory of the municipality of Bray-Saint-Aignan, in a wooded area near Orléans. According to local media, forensic specialists have been sent to the scene of the accident.
According to public radio station Ici Centre-Val de Loire, the helicopter flew over the area for several hours on Sunday. The crew was looking for a teenager who had been reported missing the night before and has since been found.
