Poperinge gets a bicycle zone from September 1th

It was already clear earlier that the bicycle zone would be completed in the autumn. The start day of the trial period is now also fixed: September 1.

Cyclists may use the full width of the carriageway in their direction of travel in a cycling zone. Motor vehicles are allowed, but they are not allowed to overtake cyclists. The maximum speed is 30 km/h. Many cities and municipalities already have a cycling zone (such as Ostend, Bruges or Kortrijk). In Poperinge, the focus is on busy one-way streets in zone 30, where the overtaking ban is most needed and will be best respected.

The city council will evaluate the measure after one year.
