The Hamburg retailer Tchibo GmbH is now also represented on the second-hand platform Sellpy. In a digital pop-up store, the company sells “fashion items that have already been worn and are in good to new condition, such as basics, trends or seasonal items for women, babies and children”. Tchibo is “the first mainstream brand to open a store on Sellpy,” according to a statement.
The items that the retailer sells on Sellpy come from the stocks of the rental service Tchibo Share, which was discontinued in 2021. Therefore, customers could “also discover new products there that were offered for rental in the Tchibo Share range but were never ordered,” the company explained.
With the second-hand pop-up, the retailer wants to advance the principle of the circular economy in the clothing industry. “The pilot test with Sellpy is a further step in testing innovative approaches to make consumption and the textile industry sustainable,” explained Tchibo.
