Pop star Michael Holm knows what he owes to the song “Mendocino”: His version of the hit by the Sir Douglas Quintet about the small Californian town of the same name put him on the road to success in 1969.
“I’ve been to Mendocino three times,” Holm told the German Press Agency. “And I had wonderful encounters there.” The hit star, who lives in Upper Bavaria, will be 80 on July 29. He wants to celebrate with around 60 guests in a restaurant, he said.
However, Michael Holm is not after retirement, on the contrary: for his milestone birthday he released a new album entitled “Holm 80”, on which he reinterprets his greatest hits.
