After weeks of preparation, the time has finally come. The Hoornse S10 will soon represent the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest. Pop choir Hoorn rehearses weekly under the direction of Klaas Kloppenburg. How do they view the song ‘De Diepte’, with which Stien den Hollander performs in Turin?
Klaas Kloppenburg is the conductor of the Pop Choir from Hoorn. “We do Top 2000 repertoire. We could sing the songs you hear on Radio 2.”
With more than average interest, the choir follows the performances of fellow town S10. Especially now that she is in the spotlight during the Eurovision Song Contest. The reviews are mostly positive. “The more I hear it, the more I like it. I think she has a beautiful voice,” says a member of the choir.
a lot of feeling
A colleague joins in. “I also really like that it’s in Dutch.” And someone else says: “There’s a lot of feeling in the song, so I understand that it is very well received worldwide.
“I think she’s going to win!”, she sounds full of enthusiasm.
However, there is also room for a critical note. “I think she has a very beautiful voice. But that in between, like tadadada.. I would have liked a little more text in that.”
Will De Diepte van de Hoornse S10 be added to Popkoor Hoorn’s repertoire? “At first I didn’t think so, but now that I hear it a few … She does sing very high, but we can do that.”
S10 is tonight in the semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy, with the song ‘De Diepte’. The final is on Saturday 14 May.
