The United States will send about 2,000 troops to Poland, Pavel Solokh, head of the National Security Bureau, said in a broadcast Polish radio. According to him, these measures will be taken as part of the support of NATO’s eastern flank.

In total, according to him, Washington plans to send 8,500 people to European countries, more than 2,000 of them to Poland.

According to him, there are two plans of action. The first involves the physical presence of the military in Europe, including in Poland. “The second plan is to use the mechanisms [НАТО] and build up the potential for the transfer of the military, if such a need arises, ”said Solokh.

The fact that the United States plans to send a military contingent to Eastern Europe was announced by the United States back in mid-December. President Joe Biden then announced that the military would be sent to the Bucharest Nine countries, which include Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Slovakia. On January 24, the Pentagon announced that part of the NATO troops in the United States and abroad were put on high alert, including 8.5 thousand American military personnel, whom the United States is ready to transfer to Europe in a short time if “needed.” They will be quickly moved to the region at the request of NATO or “in other situations”.
