Polinuit wins Big Steeple Waregem Koerse

There were seven horses at the start in Waregem, five of which belonged to the French success trainer Patrice Quinton. Quinton is resting on revenge, because last year he did not win the Grote Steeple, after no fewer than ten Waregem victories in a row.

Last year, Polinuit, the light gray horse, won; a nine-year-old gelding. The number two is led by the French champion coach François Nicolle. Angelo Zuliani is also in the saddle this year. Polinuit is again a favorite and lives up to that role. (Read more below the photo.)

Still, it’s biting to the last meters. Dream My Love, the number four, is long and easy in the lead. The five-year-old mare won the Baron Casier Prize last year, so not the first one either.

But in the end it is Polinuit who shoots forward. Top jockey Angelo Zuliani is traditionally baptized in the Gaverbeek, with the candidates for Miss Belgium 2024 next to him.
