Police use helicopter in search after chase in Midwolde

The police started a major search in Midwolde on Thursday evening. A police helicopter is being used to search for one suspect, who allegedly got out after a short car chase and fled on foot

This is confirmed by a police spokesman. The chase started at 7:30 p.m. The man eventually stopped at the Noorderweg in Midwolde. According to a bystander, the suspect dove into a cornfield on foot. A ‘huge amount’ of agents surrounded and searched the field. A police helicopter has been called in to assist. The area around the search has been cordoned off for now.

It is unknown why the man fled, police say. At 9:45 p.m., the man was apprehended by police.
