After two police officers shot in St. Hedwig’s hospital, the consequences are discussed. The German Police Union (DpolG) is calling for officers to be equipped with Tasers across the board.
The two police officers shot and injured a man (31) on Tuesday evening in the courtyard of the clinic on Grosse Hamburger Straße.
He rioted in the hospital at noon and triggered a police operation: the clinic had rejected him as a patient because of drug abuse, but he did not want to go.
In the evening he returned and attacked the police with a broken glass bottle. Two officers shot the man several times, wounding his legs.
The use of a taser can prevent serious or fatal injuries, according to DpolG Vice Boris Biedermann. “Unfortunately, there is still not a taser in every radio car.”
