Police turn their backs on politicians: MIDOW officers take action

This morning the police college met with the mayors of the municipalities involved: Meulebeke, Ingelmunster, Dentergem, Oostrozebeke and Wielsbeke.

“Deserted”

The officers formed a guard of honor and literally turned their backs on the politicians.

“A demerger of a police zone has never happened in Belgian history. Our colleagues therefore feel abandoned,” say the officers.

Insecurity

The Midow police zone will soon disappear. Because Meulebeke merges with the city of Tielt, the zone becomes too small and the municipalities join other police zones.

For the officers of the MIDOW police zone, this means uncertainty. They will not lose their job, but they will have to work elsewhere.
