Police tasers man in Tilburg, detainee taken to hospital

A 32-year-old Tilburg citizen crashed his car into a pole on the Heuvelring in his hometown on Friday night. The man did not want to cooperate with the police breath test and resisted violently. One of the officers had to use an electroshock weapon to get the man under control.

The man became unconscious and was taken to hospital by ambulance. In the afternoon he was allowed to return home.

The incident happened around half past four in the entertainment center of Tilburg. The man crashed his car into a pole on the Heuvelring, near the intersection with Spoorlaan. Officers spoke to him and wanted to take a breath test, but he refused. He punched one of the officers and tried to hit the other as well. It was then decided to taser him.

Blood was taken in the hospital and if the suspect gives permission, it will be checked whether he has drunk too much.
