During incidents, officers find themselves in situations that are difficult to oversee, the police writes. The video vehicle can then contribute to police work.
“The camera can be operated in the vehicle itself. If the situation so requires, also by an employee in the control room. There it can then be monitored remotely and estimated whether extra police deployment is needed, or less.”
In addition to the camera on the mast and the thermal image sensor, there are also four cameras on the roof that provide a 360-degree image.
The police report that fifteen employees have been trained to work with the vehicle. “They know how they can and cannot use the images. The access rules and rules of use that apply to these camera images are the same as for all other camera images that the police collect themselves.”
According to the police, the images taken are stored for 28 days and then automatically deleted. This retention period can be extended if the images are necessary for an investigation, for example.
