The police had been tipped off just before 06.30 on Friday about a burglary attempt on Staringstraat in Winterswijk. Officers who responded to the report found the suspect of the burglary attempt in Jacob Catsstraat. There, an officer shot the suspect in the leg.
The National Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the shooting incident. That is standard procedure when an officer uses his firearm.
