Police share images of arsonists at asylum seekers’ shelter in Someren

The police have shared images of the fire at the end of last month in the camping farm at De Hoof in Someren. A few days later, 450 asylum seekers would be received there. Part of the building was severely damaged by the fire.

The footage from Wednesday night, November 24, shows two people parking their cars in front of the farm. One of them then gets out with a jerry can on the co-driver’s side.

Images from a different angle then show how the arsonist walks towards the farm with the jerry can, pours the liquid against the building and on the ground and then sets it on fire. After a huge flash of light, the arsonist gets back in and the car drives off.

According to the police, the car would be a Volkswagen Golf type 4, with characteristic rims, a dark decorative strip, a dent and a skylight. The images also show how the driver lights a cigarette upon arrival.

The police are still looking for the perpetrators and are calling on witnesses to come forward. “Fortunately, the farm was not in use during the fire, but of course this could have ended much more seriously.”
