Police send SMS bomb to 250 drug users from Venlo | Tech

About 250 drug users from Venlo and the surrounding area received a text message from the police on Tuesday offering help to stop using drugs. The 06 numbers were collected from the phone of an arrested drug dealer, reports the Police.

A phone was confiscated during a drug operation in Venlo in May. This came from a 28-year-old suspect. The police decided on Tuesday to send a so-called SMS bomb to 250 contacts from the phone. These are customer phone numbers.

The purpose of the message is to make drug users aware of the dark side of the drug world. The police want to give them an entrance to help with drug addiction.

The telephone numbers that have received an SMS have been used for this purpose once. The police emphasize that the numbers will not be shared with others and that the action will not lead to registration in the police systems.

It is the second time that the police have sent such a text bomb. About 8,500 drug users from Leiden and the surrounding area had already received a similar message.
