Police searched the Red Bull box with a sniffer dog

Excitement after the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Canada: the local police denied the Red Bull employees access to the pits after the race. A sniffer dog was even used during the search.

Formula 1 racing team Red Bull could not really enjoy the victory of world champion Max Verstappen at the Canadian Grand Prix at first. Because: When the team, which Verstappen had just cheered at the award ceremony, wanted to go back to the pits, it was stopped by the Canadian police.

The emergency services searched the Red Bull box, even a sniffer dog was used, according to “Sky”. The reason for the search is unclear, but according to the TV station it was a purely routine measure. However, the late timing was strange.

“Sky” reporter Ted Kravitz experienced the police operation at Red Bull together with the team’s employees, who had to wait outside. According to Kravitz, it was “a really weird and weird” situation.

“Canadian sniffer dogs can definitely detect explosives, drugs and sweet drinks with lots of sugar and caffeine,” he joked. “They’re clearly very gifted.”

Mixed feelings at Red Bull

When the investigation was over, the Red Bull employees were allowed back into their box. The next stop for the racing team is the traditional English track Silverstone (July 1st to 3rd, live on RTL).

The Austrian racing team is leaving Canada with mixed feelings. It is true that top driver Max Verstappen managed a start-finish victory, with which he was finally able to pull away in the drivers’ standings. However, the failure of teammate Sergio Pérez in the eighth lap depresses the mood at Red Bull. The race weekend for the Mexican was disappointing in other respects as well, as he only qualified 13th due to a driving error.
