At around 12:45 a.m. on Sunday night, the Berlin police were alerted to Oranienplatz in Berlin Kreuzberg
On site, the officers equipped themselves with protective vests and weapons, including submachine guns. The officers then checked the surrounding streets.
Several units moved along Legiendamm, Dresdener Strasse, Sebastian Strasse and Lobeckstrasse. A police helicopter was also in the vicinity.
The exact reason for the use was not mentioned. Apparently it was one or more armed people – otherwise the police officers would not have been so heavily armed.
