Police pull drunk drivers off the road

Police pulled several drunk drivers off the road last night. It hit the N34 near Ees for the first time, just after midnight.

A bystander saw a car swing, skid and end up in a ditch along the road. The driver of the car – a 34-year-old man from Germany – had to be removed from the car by the fire service.

A breathalyzer showed that he had drunk about four times the legal limit of alcohol. The German had to go to the police station. In addition to having his driver’s license confiscated, he has also been registered with the CBR for the so-called educational measure. That course on behavior and traffic costs the man about 1,200 euros.

The police also saw a drunk driver in Emmen. He was stopped and checked. He was also found to have drunk four times the legal limit. The 24-year-old Emmenaar has also lost his driver’s license. In addition, he must also follow the course at the CBR.

Later that night, a driver was also taken off the road in Erica. “He stood out because of his driving style,” said the police. The 22-year-old man from Erica blew 165 µg/l, which amounts to approximately 0.4 per mille. Since the motorist is a novice driver, he had already had too much to drink. The man was banned from driving for two hours and he can also report to the CBR for the educational measure.
