In the night from Monday to Tuesday, the police picked a 60-year-old driver from Hoogeveen off the A28. The man had drunk too much alcohol.
A fellow road user saw that the Hoogevener needed the entire highway near Zuidwolde and that he even used the hard shoulder. This person continued to drive behind the drunk driver and called the police.
Officers stopped the driver and immediately took a breathalyzer test. It turned out to be clearly positive for excessive alcohol. A second test followed at the police station. It showed that the man had a promille of 3. For drivers, 0.5 is the maximum allowed amount.
The resident of Hoogeveen was able to hand in his driver’s license immediately.
