Alarm on Saturday in Lichterfelde: A man, raging with anger, rioted in the stairwell of an apartment building and wanted to break into a neighbor’s apartment. The police were able to prevent anything worse from happening.

At around 12 p.m., witnesses alerted the police to Walter-Linse-Strasse because they had heard noise and screams from a man. According to an official, a man known to the police in the building tried to break into a neighbor’s room with an ax. The door was completely destroyed. The owner of the apartment was not at home at the time of the attack. No one was injured during the operation.

The police were quickly on site with two radio patrol cars and were able to catch the aggressor in the stairwell 20 minutes after the first alarm was raised. There was no sign of much resistance from the man when he was arrested – he had a blood alcohol content of more than three per mille.

A fire department ambulance transported the man to a nearby hospital to sober up. On Sunday he will be admitted to a special psychiatric clinic. He has been noticed several times in the past.

As the BZ learned, there is said to have been no relationship between the perpetrator and the woman from the affected apartment. In fact, he didn’t like her. The aggressor was initially unable to be questioned.

The police have initiated a criminal investigation. It is still unclear whether the man will be considered guilty at the time of his crime due to his alcohol consumption. Police investigations are continuing.
