Police motard saves boy who falls lifeless

On Monday 7 March around 10.50 am, a motorcyclist from PZ VLAS patrols the Nelson Mandelaplein in Kortrijk. At the height of CVO Miras he sees a young man falling steeply backwards. “His friends react in panic and the policeman offers the boy help,” says Thomas Detavernier of PZ VLAS.

no heartbeat

It was clear that the situation was serious. “Our officer can no longer detect a heartbeat and immediately starts CPR. Immediately afterwards he is assisted by a firefighter in plain clothes.”

The fireman takes over and the policeman notifies the MUG and ambulance via the dispatching system. The eighteen-year-old boy was consciously transferred to AZ Groeninge for a check-up.
