Police: Items taken in raids in investigation into death Jihad Jafo

During the raids last Thursday in Hoogeveen and Den Ham in the investigation into the death of Jihad Jafo from Enschede, items were seized. That said the police tonight in the crime program Opsporing Verzocht. Traces have also been secured, which are being further investigated.

Jafo, 32, has been missing since December 6, 2021. Last May, his body wrapped in plastic was found in the Almelo-De Haandrik canal in Overijssel. He appeared to have been killed by a crime. His body was wrapped in garbage bags, tied together with tape and decorative cord.

On Thursday, the police raided a supermarket specializing in Asian products in the De Weide shopping center in Hoogeveen. A house in the South Drenthe town was also searched, as was a house in Den Ham in Overijssel. The last telephone signal from Jafo was also received in that place. It is not known exactly what items the police took.

No one has yet been arrested for involvement in Jafo’s death. The police suspect that he was setting up a drug transport, and that the work may have been fatal to him.

According to the police, several people may have been involved in leaving Jafo’s body behind. The package he was dumped in was weighted down with a 17-pound tripod. The transport can therefore almost not have been done by one person.
