Police hold BK Biathlon: ‘sportsmanship, togetherness, team spirit’ counts

The organization is in the hands of the local police of Middelkerke, about 150 police officers from all over the country will take part. Koenraad Vanhove, Middelkerke police zone: “They have to fire standing at a cible from 20 meters. You have the bottle in the cible, that is 0 penalty seconds. Outside the bottle there are 10. Above the shoulders 30. And the pattern has disappeared it’s 70 seconds. We add the penalty time to the total running time.”

The BK Biathlon for police officers is unique in our country. The organization is in the hands of the local Middelkerke police, a small zone with only 90 police officers. Chris Daels, Police Zone Middelkerke: “It’s a matter of voluntary commitment. It’s a matter of organizing. It also represents the values we use in the zone: sportsmanship, togetherness, team spirit.”

The winner goes home with a trophy. Although participating is more important than winning, there is also a healthy competitive spirit in the police force.
