At 2.10 pm, the white march started in Nanterre in honor of Nahel, the 17-year-old boy who was shot dead by a police officer. Mounia, the victim’s mother, plays a prominent role in this. She completes the route on the roof of a van – surrounded by the angry crowd – and cheers for all the support she receives. Several hundred participants showed up. As the procession approached its terminus, tensions rose and police had to deploy tear gas.
