During a major check in the city center of Assen, the police arrested two people on Saturday evening. One of them had hard drugs with him, and according to the police this was not just for his own use. An intoxicated driver was also arrested.
During the police check, 191 people were searched. Thirty cars were also searched. Four pieces of heavy fireworks were seized. Three knives, a life hammer and a chain lock were also seized.
The center of Assen was recently designated as a safety risk area. This gives the police extra powers if the Public Prosecution Service gives permission for this. The possibility of preventively searching people in the city is part of this.
Part of the action in the city center of Asser also included an alcohol check. Of the hundred drivers checked, one person was arrested for driving under the influence.
