Police find firearms when raiding the home of FC Groningen player Jetro Willems

The police found two firearms during a raid in a home of FC player Jetro Willems in Barendrecht. This is reported by the Barendrechts Dagblad.

This morning the police raided Willems’ house on the Noordersingel in Barendrecht. Willems himself was not present. However, a 28-year-old from Rotterdam and a 22-year-old from Dordrecht were in the house, who were arrested. In addition, two firearms were seized, said the regional newspaper.

Not sure if guns belong to Willems

It is not certain whether Willems still lives at the address, because he plays football in Groningen. It is therefore not yet clear whether he has anything to do with the firearms. He does, however, have another company located at that address.

A spokesperson for the Rotterdam police could not share much information on Monday evening, because it would be an ongoing investigation.
