Long traffic jam on E403 due to several accidents, highway closed for hours

The highway was partially closed for a large part of the day, and traffic had to detour via regional roads. Many motorists and truck drivers stood still for hours.

There was a first collision in Lichtervelde around 7:30 a.m., which already created a traffic jam. There was a second accident at around 9 a.m., involving four trucks. Three people were seriously injured. But there were no fatalities. The MUG helicopter and many ambulances arrived on the scene.

Detour

The highway in the direction of Kortrijk was completely closed for hours. All traffic in the direction of Kortrijk had to leave the highway via exit 10 in Torhout.

Around 10:40 a.m. near Ruddervoorde, a car ended up under a trailer and caught fire. The driver had to be freed and was seriously injured. The highway was then already closed from Ruddervoorde. You could pass there again since 2 p.m.

Between Bruges and Ruddervoorde, a fourth accident with a delivery van happened in the afternoon, fortunately without much harm.
