During a search operation in the center of Assen, the police seized knives, scissors and soft drugs, among other things.
A total of 225 city center visitors were checked and 88 vehicles were searched. In addition to the potential stabbing weapons and drugs, one driver was most likely under the influence of drugs. “Because the driver refused to cooperate with a blood test, his driver’s license was confiscated,” the police wrote.
Since the end of October, the center of Assen has been designated as a safety risk area. This gives officers the opportunity to conduct preventive searches.
The police announce more of these types of actions. “In the coming months we will carry out preventive searches at various locations within this safety risk area.”
