Police confirm that body in Geleen belongs to Gino

Gino’s family ended up in a nightmare after the 9-year-old boy disappeared from Kerkrade on Wednesday evening.

Gino’s body may have been found

After the police arrested a suspect on Saturday morning during the investigation into the missing Gino, a body was found that same morning at a home in Geleen. The police immediately said they “take serious account” that the body belonged to Gino.

After further investigation, it turned out that the body indeed belonged to Gino. The police announced this during a press conference on Saturday afternoon. Petra Dassen, mayor of Kerkrade, was also present. “Gino will never come home again, he will never play football again and will never feel the love of his family again. A hard blow,” she said.

great sadness

The boy, who actually lives in Maastricht, disappeared on Wednesday evening in Kerkrade, where he was staying with his sister Kelly (32) because his mother is ill. According to Naomi, another sister, he went to play football at a playground in Kerkrade on Wednesday evening. He should have been back by 7:30 PM, but an hour later there was no trace of the boy. The family searched for the boy late into the night.

“Me and my sister searched until five o’clock last night,” Naomi said tearfully earlier this week. “Called everywhere and everything. But just no trace. Nothing. Nowhere.”
