Environmental activists have been protesting in Wuhlheide in Oberschöneweide since Saturday. They occupy trees, live in tree houses, sleep in sleeping bags. The police initially observed the situation – the illegal camp has been cleared since 6 a.m.!
According to the police, there are around 100 people in the camp in Wuhlheide. They should first be given the opportunity “to leave the camp promptly and unmolested”.
The first people are leaving the protest camp, the police wrote on Twitter on Wednesday morning. Task forces remove obstacles in the forest that the squatters have built. Meanwhile, specially trained climbing experts from the Technical Task Force are preparing for their assignment.
The construction of the protest camp seriously violates the rights of third parties and entails further dangers, according to the police to justify the eviction. There was no coordination between the protesters and the assembly authority in the run-up to the action, as is usually the case.
In an “info ticker” the forest squatters report that the police are making announcements and the meeting has been dissolved. The people had been given places. No further meetings are allowed to take place in the area until May 30th.
With their occupation, the climate radicals want to protest against the construction of the so-called Tangential Connection East (TVO).
According to the police, the use in Wuhlheide is currently leading to traffic obstructions in Köpenick. Rudolf-Rühl-Allee is closed. The occupiers are calling for a protest against the eviction at 9 a.m. at the Wuhlheide S-Bahn station.
