Police chief resigns as councilor after Texas school massacre

More than a month after the massacre at a Texas elementary school that left 21 dead, the police chief in charge has resigned as a city council member. In his resignation letter, Pete Arredondo writes that he has come to the decision to do the best for the city and “to minimize further distractions”. As police chief, Arredondo was already sent on paid leave more than a week ago.
