Police check extra for alcohol and drugs this weekend

Traditionally, the governor organizes the weekend to support the federal campaign. Every year, governor Carl Decaluwé takes the initiative for the West Flemish weekend without alcohol and drugs in traffic in order to provide additional support to the federal winter BOB campaign. This year it runs from today Friday to Monday 5 December.

Announced actions

“To achieve the road safety objectives, in addition to prevention and awareness campaigns, enforcement actions are also necessary. Together we can achieve these objectives. Therefore, a warm appeal to all drivers never to use alcohol or drugs behind the wheel: who drives, does not drink says the governor.

Decaluwé deliberately announces the action. “Research showed that road users are more careful with announced actions: a man who has been warned is worth two.”
