Last night, the police arrested a 42-year-old suspect from the municipality of Oost-Gelre for dumping waste on the A18 near Westendorp. He was caught in the act, police said today.
Around 22.15 a group of thirty tractors was spotted on the N18, driving towards the A18. Near Westendorp, at the beginning of the A18, officers found a blockage of dumped waste. There, the 42-year-old suspect was caught in the act.
He was immediately arrested and is still in custody. The detective is investigating the case. As far as is known, this is the first suspect in the eastern Netherlands who has been arrested for the dumping campaigns of the farmers in recent days, a police spokesperson reported.
