Police arrest 57-year-old Amsterdam resident for taking woman hostage

A 57-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening because he is held responsible for taking a 71-year-old woman hostage in a house on the Huigenbos in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. The police announced this today. The resident’s dog is taken away, but it has now been returned to its owner.

The hostage taking took place on Friday morning around 11.30 am in a house on the Huigenbos in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. A robber pretends to be a parcel deliverer, after which several suspects enter the house.

This hostage situation lasts a number of hours, during which the resident is held against her will and threatened. “When the suspects leave after hours, they take the woman’s dog with them and leave her shocked,” police said.

Dog and owner reunited

The police and Forensic Investigation employees started an investigation that ultimately resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects, the 57-year-old Amsterdam resident. The dog is also found in good health and can be reunited with the woman.

The police are looking for local residents or witnesses who saw or heard something. Detectives are also still looking for the other suspects.
