Several thousand people demonstrated on Saturday for more support and solidarity for citizens with a view to the effects of the energy crisis.
The “Redistribute!” initiative, an alliance of mainly left-wing organizations and clubs, had called for the demonstration. According to the police, around 3,000 people walked through Berlin-Mitte and Kreuzberg, past the Ministry of Finance and the SPD party headquarters.

Among other things, they called for higher taxation of wealth and higher wages, pensions and social benefits. According to the police, there were no major incidents.
Some demonstrators had ignited smoke pots.
