Police are looking for witnesses to a “possible mistaken explosion” at a home in Hilversum

The police are looking for witnesses to an explosion at a house on Loodsen in Hilversum. On Tuesday, October 17, an explosive device went off in the street, which may have been a mistake. The police are now sharing additional information about, among other things, the getaway car in the hope that bystanders have seen something or know more.

On October 17th around 2:30 am a loud bang goes off. The family that was sleeping with two young children is shaken out of their bed.

The explosive went off in De Loodsen street, near a house in Villa Industria. “Out of nowhere the family is startled,” the police say. The police are investigating the case. Based on preliminary investigations, they assume that the explosion was a “tragic” mistake. “So far there are no indications that the family was the intended target.”

The facade of the front door was seriously damaged, fortunately no one was injured.

A possible connection with other explosions is being investigated. Police are now urgently appealing to the public to help with this investigation. “That is why we are providing information about the getaway car. The vehicle is a gray Opel Corsa 3-door, better known as model “D”.

“Witnesses state that shortly after the explosion they heard a car driving away at high speed.” The escape route mapped out by investigators can be seen in the video at the top of this article. From De Loodsen, via the Kleine Drift, they drive to the Lorentzweg towards the Jan van der Heijdenstraat.
