Residents of the Visbuurt in Den Helder have been startled by fires for two nights in a row. Last night a delivery van on Nieuwstraat caught fire, followed almost simultaneously by a fire in a nearby barn. The night before, a car also went up in flames. In all cases it is a case of arson, it now appears.
In the car fire in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, arson has been proven, in the two fires last night, intent is also assumed.
A witness says that a firelighter was probably placed on the left front wheel of the van. The same probably happened in the car fire the night before.
Victim Support
The owners of the van and those of the shed have filed a report. Victim support has been offered. The police talk to neighbors and carry out trace investigations.
Police are still looking for witnesses and CCTV from the area.
