Police Academy actor George R. Robertson (89) passed away | show

Canadian actor George R. Robertson, best known as Police Commissioner Henry Hurst in the first six Police Academy films, has passed away. He died last week at the age of 89 in his hometown of Toronto, his family has announced.

Robertson first played the role of Hurst in 1984. He remained loyal to the franchise after that, also appearing in the five sequels. Only in the seventh and last part, which was released in 1994, Robertson was not seen.

The actor also appeared in a number of small roles in the films Airport (1970), Norma Rae (1979) and JFK (1991), all of which were nominated for an Oscar in the Best Picture category. Robertson also played the role of Vice President Dick Cheney in the TV series The Path to 9/11.
