Poliça have announced details about their new album MADNESS. At the same time, they release the first single from the new record, “Alive”.
MADNESS is supposed to be a kind of companion piece to the previous album WHEN WE STAY ALIVE, which was released in 2020. Recorded largely between 2020 and 2021 at Ryan Olson’s Minneapolis studio, the album was created in part using the anthropomorphic production tool AllOvers(c) designed by Olson and fellow producer and sound artist Seth Rosetter.
According to singer Channy Leaneagh, the lyrics on MADNESS represent the idea: “I’m here for all of you and I’m never really myself. I’m them for all of you and I’m never really them”.
The first track from the new album, “Alive”, can now be heard streamed here:
Speaking of the song, Leaneagh said: “Bad things happen, the fire goes out; even with the best fuels, it stays dark until nothing matters and it becomes the fire itself.”
MADNESS is scheduled for release on June 3rd. Shortly after the release, the group will also go on a US tour. Most recently, Poliça released the single “Rotting” in February, which will not be part of the album.
MADNESS tracklist:
- Alive
