Polar bears with a clear victory in Mannheim after the compulsory Corona break

The Eisbären Berlin have continued their successful streak in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) after the forced break caused by the corona. On Friday evening, the leader won 4-0 (1-0, 0-0, 3-0) against second-placed Adler Mannheim. With their goals, Frans Nielsen, Matt White, Sebastian Streu and Kevin Clark ensured that the German champions were able to celebrate their sixth win in a row.

In front of 8494 spectators in the Mannheim Arena, the Berliners hardly noticed that after their week-long team quarantine they still had to do without some top performers such as national players Marcel Noebels, Leonhard Pföderl and Mathias Niederberger. They gave the hosts a balanced encounter from the start and went into the first break with a narrow lead thanks to Nielsen’s goal.

In the second third, Mannheim temporarily increased the pressure, but the guests managed to defend their lead.

The polar bears also remained highly concentrated in the final section and countered successfully: White, Streu and Clark secured victory with their goals, goalie Tobias Ancicka was able to celebrate his second shutout of the current season.
