Polar bears sweep Mannheim off the ice

Champion Eisbären Berlin clearly won the top game in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and consolidated their lead in the table.

On the 54th matchday, the capital city clearly prevailed 4-0 (1-0, 0-0, 3-0) at Adler Mannheim and celebrated their sixth win in a row. Mannheim conceded a defeat for the first time after four wins and slipped down to fourth place in the table.

Double packer Matt White (13th/43rd) put the Berliners on the road to victory, Sebastian Streu (49th) and Kevin Clark (56th) increased.

However, ERC Ingolstadt missed a sense of achievement in the fight for the sixth and last direct play-off place. Ingolstadt lost 4-1 (0-2, 0-1, 1-1) to the Grizzlys Wolfsburg and are now in eighth place. Vice-champion Wolfsburg, on the other hand, is still close to leaders Berlin with a points quotient of 1.85.

For bottom light Krefeld Pinguine, relegation to the DEL 2 is becoming more and more likely. Just three days after the 4-2 defeat at the Kölner Haie, the Krefeld team lost 4-1 to the Düsseldorfer EG (0-0, 1-1, 0-3). In addition, Red Bull Munich won against the Schwenninger Wild Wings 4:3 (0:0, 2:1, 2:2) and moved up to third place.
