Even the short break didn’t help the polar bears. The champion lost 3-2 to the Kölner Haie and stayed in the bottom of the table.

Not only the recent bankruptcy hurts. The Berliners mess up Yannick Veilleux’s (28) season debut. The Canadian is making his first appearance after recovering from a knee injury.

He sustained the injury in last year’s semi-final against Mannheim. The striker with an inconspicuous style of play and cannot set any accents yet.

Defender Marco Nowak (32) is also back after surviving an injury (concussion). But the native of Dresden still needs a lot of time.

After goals from Marcel Noebels (8th) and Bennet Roßmy (15th) when Thuresson conceded (11th), the polar bears even lead 2-1. But outnumbered, the Haie managed to equalize through Kammerer (17′). A rough defensive blunder then leads to 2:3 (39th). Goalscorer is Cologne’s top defender Bailen.
