Defending champions Eisbären Berlin are the first team in the playoff semi-finals of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).
The Berliners also won the third game in the “best of five” series against the Kölner Haie 4-0 (1-0, 1-0, 2-0) on Thursday evening and made it into the last four.
The third in the main round, Grizzlys Wolfsburg, and the eight-time German champion, Adler Mannheim, meanwhile missed the early decision. In a 1:3 (1:1, 0:1, 0:1) against the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven, Wolfsburg conceded the first defeat of the series. Mannheim missed the third win with a 1:4 (0:0, 1:3, 0:1) at the Straubing Tigers.
Red Bull Munich is only one win away from the semi-finals. The Munich team won 3-1 (1-1, 1-0, 1-0) against Düsseldorf EG and are now 2-1 ahead in the series.
