Eugen Polanski remains a coach with the crisping Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach.
“I get a very good support from everyone, from the management team, from the team. I have already received the signal that I can continue,” said Polanski after the 0-0 against SC Freiburg. Accordingly, he will also remain in a responsible position over the international break.
Then Gladbach plays at the 1st FC Union Berlin. “I’m looking forward to the Union game. There is enough to do. And if it is longer, I’m happy again,” said Polanski.
After the separation from chief coach Gerardo Seoane, the previous U23 coach had first succeeded. A victory has not yet jumped out: Before the Freiburg game, Borussia had played 1-1 at Bayer Leverkusen under Polanski and lost 4: 6 against Eintracht Frankfurt. With three points after six games, Gladbach is in the second place in the Bundesliga.
In Gladbach, the search for sports directors initially has priority. After Roland Virkus’s resignation, Borussia had already held “promising discussions” according to managing director Stefan Stegemann. “There are already candidates where we say: We would take them with pleasure. The reality must show whether this will come to the deal in the end,” said Stegemann.
The decision will also have an impact on Polanski’s job: “In the end, of course, the new sports director will decide who the coach is,” said the coach.
